Actually, the underlying premise is nothing new. The idea of revenge and vigilantism has been around nearly as long as there have been social laws.

This is just the first show to do it with a person that feels the need to kill and focuses on the emotional and psychological make-up of a serial-killer.

Its a more discreet version of The Punisher.
