Ronald Reagan Biopic in the Works

The Hollywood Reporter says that the story of Ronald Reagan, the 40th President of the United States, is in development.

The $30 million movie, titled Reagan , is set for release late next year and will be based on two best-selling biographies by Paul Kengor: “The Crusader” and “God and Ronald Reagan.”

Mark Joseph, who optioned the books four years ago, is co-producing with Ralph Winter (“X-Men” films, Planet of the Apes ) and Jonas McCord ( Ray , Holes , The Passion of The Christ ) wrote the script.

Reagan begins with the 1981 assassination attempt and tells Reagan’s story through flashbacks and flash-forwards.

A “Reagans” movie, starring James Brolin as the president, premiered on Showtime in November of 2003.
