Let’s review the trailer for Smile 2. This time around, for the sequel to Smile, it looks like we’re going to be following a pop star named Sky Riley, played by Naomi Scott. It’s said she’s supposed to be a recovering drug addict until one day she comes across the Smile curse. It gets attached to her after she witnesses one of her crew members die. From here, every fan she encounters leaves her stuck between knowing if it’s part of the Smile curse or just a happy, smiling fan excited to see her.
That first Smile movie, I thought, was a really great, fun surprise. In fact, the cop from the last movie, Kyle Gallner, is returning here, but it looks like they might have spoiled his death, as he can be seen running out of a house before he gets hit, leading to an awesome title transition.
So yeah, although the movie is going in a different direction than I expected, the trailer looks good, and I’m excited to see the movie. The marketing campaign for the first film was really iconic. Now, the marketing this time around is them just pretending this pop star is real, where you can go to Youtube, Spotify or Apple Music and listen to her new song, “Blood on White Satin.“
